Nelson....... I can't believe Mass. folks say ya'll. I guess you must have taught then proper while there. WOW, a cultural revolution. You go girl.

Cindi.......... Let me break it on down for you so you know how us true blooded Texans really roll. California used to be part of the West like Florida was part of the South. But then came the plaque of those dam yankees and all that changed. Hell, they still think they won the war. All Lee was doing was handing his sword to a dam yankee to have him polish it. The stupid yankee thought it was a sign of surrender. Lee knew that if he could get this yankee slave to polish his sword his boots would be next. It was hard to get good help in those days. But I degrees.

You guys is grammatically incorrect and also politically incorrect. It is sexiest and offensive to portions of our society. Guys are guys right. You know, a group of men or boys. But yankees use it in speaking to mixed groups, like men and women. Girls aren't guys, women aren't guys, butches wished they were but aren't and so with dikes, tv ect. Get my drift girl. Bulls are bulls and cows are cows. You don't call a heard of cattle "you bulls" cause the long horn cows will cow kill you if you do. The cows don't want to be called bulls, know what I mean girl.

Now ya'll, or you all, is politically correct and grammatically correct. It is all inclusive and not sexiest or offensive. Ya'll can be said to any kind of mixed group of people and be correct and non offensive because it has no gender connotations. So I say HELL YA, us country folk were politically correct before there was such a thing as politically correct. Country boys have always been ahead of the game when it comes to inept yankees thinking. "That's How Country Boys Roll."

........."Hey, Hey, I'm A Little Bit Harder And A Lot More Wiser".........

"/?#!" LOL. ROFLOL. Slap your grandma LOL. Pinch your sister LOL.

HEY!!!!

Top of the morning ya'll! Or; if you're a politically incorrect, sensitive yankee by birth, choice or vocabulary; top of the morning to you guys (and gals)......Got ya!!!! LOL.

No. I didn't set my alarm to get up this early. I just woke up at 2:00am and couldn't go back to sleep. Yew, I hate it when that happens. It's hell being 39 but I'll take it for the team. You think Jack Bennie would have at least wanted to be 40.

Shout out back at you Connie. Are you the same Connie that Brooks and Dunn sang about. She was bare footed and naughty.

Shout out to Miller, Pope, Milliam, Singer, Ralphie B., Kiker, Bice, Gleason, Jordon, Treadway, Cookie, Wells, Cosby, Raymond, Odie, Hall, Moffet, Dickens, Starns and all my girlfriends out there.

Time to get ready for work in the coal mine. Maybe I'll find a diamond today?????

It is with great sadness that I report the death of another classmate. Melanie Butler was found dead in her home in the Dallas area. It is suspected she took her own life. Please keep her family in your prayers. I will post additional info regarding services as it becomes available. Thank you Char O'Daniel for the notification.

Randy S:  It looks like while you were busy with learning about sharing you missed the class on being a good sport about it.  Spitting in a girl's beer - I can't believe you would even think about it!! I could start a rumor that I swapped spit with you at the reunion but I guess that's not really true since I didn't give any back. So, technically it could not be referred to as "swapping".  Besides, I know you didn't really spit in my beer because I never left the can alone.  It was the end of the reunion, my feet were tired and I plopped my backside in a chair and didn't move until it was time to go.  Also, you have to remember that I live in CA and learned a long time ago that a girl never leaves her drink sitting by itself out of her sight.  If she does happen to walk off she never takes another drink out of that glass/can.  I've had too many friends with horror stories about ending up in the emergency room with rohypnol in their system.  Although it would never happen at a class reunion old habits hang on so I kept my eye on my drinks.  I lost a couple along the way earlier in the evening and abandoned them but the beer never strayed from my vision.  Safety first!

Also, thanks for "breaking it down for me" on the debate over "you guys" versus "you all, ya'll", etc.  Boy, was there a lot of bull in that one paragraph!  Since you know what cows want to be called I'm thinking they must talk to you so that would make you a "cow whisperer".  We can add that to your growing list of talents!

I will again state, for the record, that I am a true blooded Texan!  I very much enjoyed your perspective on the Lee/Grant encounter of the Civil War.  I also got a kick out of your lecture on grammar and political correctness.  To sum it up, I think you have simply been saying that since my departure from Texas I have acquired the vocabulary of a gay yankee tainted with bad grammar and a propensity for being sexist and politically incorrect. Hmmmm . . . As for your closing statement - I don't have a grandma left to slap and never had a sister to pinch!  (Just keeping it real for ya!)

Happy Monday to all . . .it's back to work for me!

Jimmy Kiker

This is Vicki, Jimmy's wife, with a couple of random thoughts.  My graduating class recently had it's 40th reunion, and although I didn't attend, Jimmy and I were looking at some pictures of it online.  I asked him what he thought of my classmates, and he said, "Our girls are prettier.".  And you know, I have to agree!  :-)  Also, I've attended all of Jimmy's reunions, but none of mine.  I know that seems odd, especially since I have good memories of high school.  I wasn't in any organizations, but I had a good group of friends.  The reason I've never attended one of my reunions is mainly because, with 660 students in my graduating class, chances are good that most, if not all, of the other attendees would be people I've never even met!  It's hard to reminisce with someone when you have no shared experiences!  In looking at the pictures of my recent reunion, I recognized people, but there was only one person that I ever spent time with outside of school. I know all of you didn't hang out all the time, and maybe not ever with some of your classmates, but you probably saw them fairly frequently.  I can look through my annuals now, and there are countless people in my class that I feel like I've never seen before!  I hope you all realize what a blessing it is to come from a small enough class in a small enough school to be able to feel close to, or at least be somewhat familiar with nearly everyone in that class, and from what I've seen, I know you do. As my little granddaughter would say to someone who has something she wishes she had, "You're so lucky!".  :-)

Katrina Donnell (Kimble)

I was truly sorry to hear about Melanie Butler. By the time you reach this stage in life I think we have all had challenges and disappointments that would make us wonder if there would ever be any peace in our life. The years have a way of putting wrinkles on our faces, aches in our bones, and tiredness in our steps. We begin to wonder if life is worth living. BUT -- we have to remember that God may not be finished with us yet! My motto for years has always been : Its not the breaths you take--- it's all about the moments that take your breath away. Now George Strait has a song about that very thing . Give it a listen-- it'll bring a tear to your eye but maybe it'll also give you the strength to pick up the pieces and look for that something or someone who will share those moments that will take your breath away!

God Bless Melanie Butler-- you touched all our lives and I'm sure we all have a special memory of you. God speed and may peace fill your soul!
Katrina

O MAN!

I hate to here that about Melanie. In J.H.S. she was so sweet and in H.S. I remember her always laughing and she had a smile that would melt a heart of stone in an instant.

Melanie girl, now that you are on the other side smile again, laugh again and bring joy to yourself and to the othersiders.

Love you girl. Miss you girl.

Vickie K........ All those thing you said about all us were so sweet. Thank you. Jimmy doesn't deserve someone as special as you. If he ever doesn't treat you right just tell me and I'll have a talk with him.

Yew, looking back we were close and we were distant, depending on what year it was, who you hung out with that year, what school stuff you were involved in, what kinda stuff happened and just all kinds of variables in any given year. But I think what you saw at the reunion and what electrically transpired that night among us was that a lot of older, now seasoned classmates came together with all their life battles, victories, war wounds and rebounded through memory of what we call the good old days when we were young and together. Present day battles of life make old friendship memories very precious. There were moments back when where we had a light come on about how special all of it was but it was only a childish realization of a moment in time. Glimpses that faded like a Texas High Morning. Now us old farts finally realize what we really had back when but were to young to grasp it all. So, on July 17th 20010 we ate our steaks and lifted our glass to a Constantago moment in time, both past and present.

O HELL! Somebody slap me and tell me to shut up before I just keep going on and on and on and make Vicky K. change her mind about all us wonderful, special people.

CINDI GIRL!!! Be afraid. Be very afraid. Cause I'm going to deal with you later. Right now I'll let you stew and wonder for awhile before my formal response to your posting. Scared Yet You guys? LOL. LOL.

Kay Lee (Culwell)

So very sorry to hear about Melanie, her family will be in my prayers.

D. McCoy:  Keep us posted on Sandy's progress, she will also be in my prayers, thanks for letting us know.

On a lighter note, here's something the readers will find amusing.  I've already shared with most of my closer friends, but it bears repeating:

My 8 yr. old grandson, Jeb, was at my house the other day and saw the group picture from the reunion.  He asked who or what it was, I told him that it was a picture of all the people I graduated from high school with at a reunion we had, and showed him where me & aunt Connie were.  He studied it for a minute or so, then looked at me and asked.....are you ready for this???...."so, is this a school for old people?". After I quit laughing I did explain that when we graduated we were all young, but that was 40 years ago!

Oh to be a kid again and think that anything over 18 is ancient!  LOL

Celinda (Cindi) Ward (Hanna)

Kay: Thanks so much for sharing that story - it is truly precious. Out of the mouth of babes!

Vicki K: Do you realize you've attended more of our class reunions than some of the actual THS grads? That's awesome! You can be an honorary class member. We are happy (and lucky) to have you there along with Jimmy.

Randy S: How about we call a truce and just agree to disagree on certain points? Let's not continue to bore the forum readers with our verbal jousting.  Besides, I am afraid - very afraid. Ha!

Sandy Cosby: Here's to a speedy & full recovery! You're in our thoughts & prayers.

The last word I received regarding Melanie is that she will be cremated with no services.  If I am able to obtain an address for her mother or brother I will post the information in case any of you want to send sympathy cards to the family.  Katrina, you expressed sentiments that I am sure are shared by many!

HEY CELINDA!!!

Thanks for all your comments, recognization and praise concerning all of my worthless abilities. And I really am sorry that I scared you. Your just so much fun to joust with. You old jouster you.

Oh you see, those four English classes I took my senior year did pay off. A Hey, maybe I did learn something at T.H.S. without the Devil beat it into me with his Redwood Paddle. All my English teachers would be proud. Right??? Maybe??? Kinda??? A little bit. O well, just wait till you hear me speak Spanish and Aferacounse. Well maybe not, cause I can't spell in Spanish or Aferacounse.

The only time I tried whispering in a cows ear I got run over by her and trampled in the dirt. So I don't do the cow whispering thing any more. Thank you very much. I did have a longhorn momma cow once that I wrestled with. Now that's fun I don't care who you are.

Celinda Darling you can't quit jousting with me. No body else will talk to me on this thing. If you quit jousting with me I'll have to go back to writing my old boring Tulia Texas stories.

Toes back in the water, LOOK OUT FOR THE SHARKS!!!!

Vicki K.,  I think it's great that your part of our class now, you are a wonderful, welcome addition.

My son and daughter were both in a high school that had a graduating class of 500+, they hated high school.

I wish I could have raised them in a smaller town, but things just didn't work out that way.

Anyway, welcome!

Jimmy Kiker

Well thank you, Connie!  That was very sweet of you!  Counting Jimmy, I attended Lubbock Christian College with 5 of your classmates, so you weren't all complete strangers.  Tulia's been very good to me.  :-)

P.S.  I don't want to leave out Delia!  I met her when we went to High School Day at LCC, and stayed in the dorm with Pam Dutton and Bunnye Harman.  I knew Pam because she dated my older brother at LCC.  One of those times, Delia introduced me to the guy she had ridden to High School Day with...Jimmy Kiker!  I didn't see him again until we got to LCC, and the rest is history!

Connie Lee (Ash)

Ralph, this is for you, being in the airline industry before, I know that you will enjoy this.....hopefully along with all our classmates.

While taxiing at London's Gatwick Airport, the crew of a US Air flight departing for Ft. Lauderdale made a wrong turn and came nose to nose with a United 727. An irate female ground controller lashed out at the US Air cr ew, screaming: "US Air 2771, where the hell are you going? I told you to turn right onto Charlie taxiway! You turned right on Delta! Stop right there. I know it's difficult for you to tell the difference between C and D, but get it right!"
Continuing her rage to the embarrassed crew, she was now shouting hysterically: "God! Now you've screwed everything up! It'll take forever to sort this out! You stay right there and don't move till I tell you to! You can expect progressive taxi instructions in about half an hour, and I want you to go exactly where I tell you, when I tell you, and how I tell you! You got that, US Air 2771?"

"Yes, ma'am," the humbled crew responded.

Naturally, the ground control communications frequency fell terribly silent after the verbal bashing of US Air 2771. Nobody wanted to chance engaging the irate ground controller in her current state of mind. Tension in every cockpit out around Gatwick was definitely running high. Just then an unknown pilot broke the silence and keyed his microphone, asking: "Wasn't I married to you once?"

Talk to ya later, Connie

Ralphie B.

Glad your back, dude. Thought you might have drove off one of the hills in the Cap Rock on your way to Turkey for the Drive Inn movie, or the Coyotes got you.

Yes you should cash the check. I knew a man once that make a large fortune with a penny check. Go for it man. When I was incarcerated at Tulia I never got a check. Maybe I'll write that story one day but right now I'm trying to keep my promise to Miller. His is a difficult story to write.

Keep it unreal man, it's more fun that way.

Boy Randy what a story Can u really type that fast and go back to work at 3 something in the afternoon????       J/K    I remeber that wreck very well, I saw it on the news and had met Paula a few time at WT, In fact I think I met her for the first time at a Basketball game in Canyon our senior year when I would take the girls on the bus to Canyon.  U know V V, P P, and T T were juniors on the basketball team, u know those three girls??  LOL    Anyway me and Lloyd were the first ones to see Lou and Mark in the hospital, and Mary Lou was ok, but really got to me seeing Mark in the condition he was in.  It really took Mark about 2 yrs to get back to the same old Mark, Me and my ex, and Mark and Lou had some good times in Wimberly, Tx at his house and in Austin when I worked for Continental and cherish those times!!!   Randy I know it was hard for u to type that whole story, and can't believe u can remeber as much as u did!!  I have a Airline story u and Cindi, Connie will like,  try to make it short!!! I have had people say that I BS, butt they say the bad thing about my BS it's true!!!!   LOL

My Thirth Birthday At Continental Airlines Air Cargo Office!!!

A man came into my office about 9:30p and wanted to ship a envelope to LGA  (Lagurdia) counter to counter on Delta, I was working 5 different airlines cargo at the time, The Delta ticket counter was closed and wanted to know if I could do it there, I said sure it would go out on the first flight the next morn.,  So, I was very good at typing people in about 5 min. and he seem a little nervous.  When he left I thought I would just check out what was in the manilla envelope, just a metal clasp and no tape on it, So, it was a Time Magazine, and I thought u can't get a Time Mag. in NY,  I flipped thru the pages and found 6 one hundred dollar bills, flip thru some more pages and found 6 more, Damnit,  well it was March 21 thirty yrs old that day, and there was thirty one hundred dollar bills in the magazine.  So, this story could just be BS or it could be true BS?????    Connie, I think I could write a book on what I saw in 15 yrs with Continental Airlines!!!  Back then It was the The Proud Bird with the Golden Tail, and we always said the Proud Bird with a Brass Ass!!!!

Ok Randy S.  see if we can get some response on this question " What about the Marsha Sharp Freeway Lubbock, Tx"???????????????

Short song!! Sing a little song, ain't to long, Tulip, Tulip, Now is all gone!!!

Vicki K, you have always been a part of our class! I was so happy when Jimmy came over to my apt. in Lubbock (with you) and told me he was in love.  Jimmy has always been a best friend and great christian brother and I have always loved you both.  You and Jimmy always make it fun at  the reunion.  (I loved the ice down the back) Thanks for all the great times.

I am greatful for the address Cindi, I tried to email Melanie's brother on the Classmate.com site, but he didn't open the email. I was hoping to get Melanie to come to the reunion. I pray she knows , she was missed and will always be a part of our memories.

There is too much to respond to all the great information and stories you have all been writing. I am so greatful to have moved to Tulia and grown up in the small community. I have moved back to Tulia, after being gone 38 years. I have been alot of places in the USA, and Tulia has a very good climate and the people are wonderful. I would rather smell Cows, than city pollution!

Thanks for all the great photo's and slides. You all are Great.

Keep up the great info and Stories!    Delia Cooper

KAY!........ Thanks, I'm glad I'm still here too and it was great to see Miller at the reunion. If I wasn't here who would tell ya'll (you guys for Cindi) all these bed time stories about yesteryear. J/K. And there isn't anything you need to add or say girl. Just thanks for your thoughts and kind words.

Ralphie B........ Now I know why you didn't cash that Lubbock check. You invested that birthday money you found and your stock went through the roof. Hell, you didn't need that penny check. Right.

I remember V.V. T.T. and P.P. V.V. and I dated a few times and then hung out dragging dip a lot. I think I took her to Waynes Drive In a couple times for a coke. Thanks Kay, you taught me well. Never did the cheep date thing again and I got some kisses too. Kay don't be mad. If we can't laugh about it then we cry. Laughtin is way more fun.
