Larry, if your prior posting is, ummmm, accurate, then you and Randy would be in the running for THS 1970 Classmates Who Were Most Adventureous award, if there was one, which there isn't. I think there might be a movie script in there somewhere!

I don't think this reunion is going to be long enough to catch up on everyone's adventures!

Kay Thomas (Youngman)

Hi all....I think like many others I left tulia and intended never to return. My dad passed on in 1986 then My brother and I moved my mom to Lubbock where she would be closer to us. I can relate well to the loss of parents. Well just for a little history... I have two grown daughters Tara and Jill both live in the Houston area. Much to big for me. I have some how missed all the other reunions but am planning to make this one in July... Just before I reach 58 yrs old but I wont go there yet. I have been in NM since 1999. I managed to have enought brain cells intact to get a masters degree in social work in 2006. I currently am the mental health provider at the Eddy County Detention Center in Carlsbad. It has been good reading the psots and seeing where everyone is. Hopefully I will see you all in July.
Have a great day! Kay

Ralph: Yep, we went to the Jr./Sr. banquet & prom together our junior year. If you went with Wade senior year I suspect he was a better date than I was. I recall we spent about 20 minutes on Deltah's porch trying to decide whether we were going to kiss goodnight. Deltah, Debi, Beverley and I had a post prom slumber party. As I recall, we opted not to kiss but we obviously put some time and thought into the decision making process. I have a really cute photo of us looking rather nerdy for the event buried somewhere in my garage. I may have to go dig it out and post it here for grins!

Welcome to Rhonda & Kay - both of you were quiet girls as I recall. (Not like Connie and me, huh?). Ha ha. I am so glad to see you guys speaking up and joining in. It's great to hear about everyone and the forum has been a great source of information with a touch of inspiration, too!

Larry: Wow, your exploits make my roller coaster riding adventures pale by comparison. You and Randy P. sound like characters out of a Larry McMurtry novel. It sure makes for good reading so please share more stories!

Well, we have hit the 50% mark in classmates who have registered on the site. That's quite a milestone and one I'm very proud of! We just need to keep the momentum going and find those missing folks. Thank you Lloyd for your efforts and to all of you who have made phone calls and sent emails to others on behalf of the site. I also notice we have 34 classmates registered to attend the reunion. That is awesome! Our challenge is to see if we can "one up" the Class of 69. I'm not sure of their exact attendance (Charlotte please jump in and help me out here) but it looked to me like they had about 50 people in one photo on their website for their gathering at the church. We can't let those guys beat us out for best attendance, can we?

I plan to make ID badges for the reunion that will be color coded so that you can tell classmates from guests. I am going to include a high school photo on the ID's. It's too bad our senior year photos were "green" in the yearbook. As a result, I can't use those. I've tried photoshopping them and nothing works to remove the dark finish. I will have to select a photo of each attendee from either sophomore or junior year (or even freshman maybe). I promise to pick the most flattering photo of you so trust me. (ha) If you have a headshot photo from that era you would like me to use instead of one from a yearbook, send it to me. I aim to please!

Thanks again to the many contributors on this forum and for all the kind comments you've made about the site. Keep the forum alive. Post today!

Hugs to all - see you in July!

Perry Hall

Good Saturday Morning everyone. This class sure has a lot to talk about. I guess we will never change and that is a good thing. It is early in the morning and I am working 6 & 7 days a week to get the company I work for ready for a state inspection. One of these days I might retire but then Vicki would need a lot of patience and medication. I would probaly try to remodel everything and end up in the garage or storage shed.

It sounds like some of you have had some tough and hard times and my heart goes out to you. I do look forward the seeing all of you that can make it to the reunion. By the way the Conestoga Resturant has some really good food. We try to eat and meet some of the class there every Friday night. Even my brother will eat there.

Take care, and try extremely hard to make the reunion.

Cindi do you want me to post the names and address for some of the motels in Canyon and Amarillo?

Perry

Celinda (Cindi) Ward (Hanna)

Perry: It's a great idea to post the names and numbers of area hotels. If you send it to me in an email I can create a special "link" on the left hand side of the home page with the contact info so that people don't have to read the forum to access the details! Thanks for your help.

I second Perry's motion to make the effort to attend the reunion. We only have one shot at celebrating our 40th together and the more people who participate the better the celebration! We're up to 35 classmates so far which is awesome. We still have lots of folks "missing" so everyone pitch in and help locate these lost sheep.

There are so many stories to share . . . I'm curious about the electric fence episode, Perry. Inquiring minds want to know!

I talked to Gerald McClanahan today. He called to wish me a happy birthday. I encouraged him to come to the reunion this summer and he said he would! I also gave him the website address so he can register and see what everyone is talking about. His email address is: panchoanlefty@gmail.com, if anyone wants to get in touch with him.

I went home this weekend to see Mom and do the fix this and that thing.

I did have lunch with Lloyd, Mark, Susan Blount, and others whom I did not know. But it was good to see those classmates, sit and talk for a couple of hours...the reunion should be fun..

I also managed to get Bryan Finck's numbers, so I will be in contact with him about the reunion.

Donna Bookout (Henthorn)

Well my goodness! I have not had the time to get on this site for awhile and I think we should write a book about everyone's adventures or mis-adventures!

It was so sad to hear of Van's passing! We're still "young".......got lots to do! It hurts to hear of one's life cut short. But I guess that's when I have to trust that God is in control and He certainly doesn't need my help in any area!

Things are really gearing up for my daughter's wedding. Details, details, details....but I love it! Just give me anything and I'll organize it for you!

It has been wonderful to re-connect with friends.....Rita, Katrina, Connie, Kay, Denice, Cindi, Lloyd, Perry and Bryan to name a few!

I hope life is treating each of you well and that we can all re-connect in person next July! Keep on writing....it's fun to read these posts when I can't sleep at night! Being a night-owl was fun in my 20s....but this bod needs more rest now it seems! Guess I'll go count sheep...........
Hugs to all!

Hey All !Personally I feel like I've been to the moon and back since school, actually I think I saw Larry and Pope up there as they had run out of adventure here on earth ! It seems like you go thru life and meet lots of folks but never get as close to them, (except for a few) as the people that you grew up with in a small town in the panhandle of Tx. There is just something special about "our kind" and I'm proud to have known ya, which is why I'm really lookin forward to seeing everybody ! I feel a little guilty about not keeping in touch with some of you and I'm sorry for that ! It seems that I went on an adventure of my own and could never find my way home...well, I'm back and hope to "meet" some of you again. So...we'll see ya in July, it's gonna be a party !

Larry, I want to hear about the chicken in the bank lobby.
Happy Birthday Randy--hope your feeling better and looking forward to July.

Donna, you are right. It has been fun to read all the responses and connect with everyone! I'm greatly looking forward to July. I hope some of you will bring pictures from high school. I missed that adventure with you all and want to hear about it and see pictures.

A quick update on Randy P. I talked to him today and he sounds great. He says he's not progressing as fast as he'd like but I suspect the feeling is a by-product of cabin fever. I'm sure it will be awhile before he climbs up on a horse but I am optimistic that he will get there one of these days. His goal is to make it to the reunion and with his determination I expect to see him there. Thanks to all of you who kept him in your prayers during his extended hospitalization. We're lucky he's still with us and I choose to believe our prayers helped make it possible.

Our attendance is looking great for July. Thanks to everyone out there who has spent time on recruitment efforts for those missing classmates. If any of you can contact Rita Stark please ask her to update her profile and email address. All of her notifications are bouncing back as undeliverable! She has no clue what she's missing.

I'm with you Katrina - can't wait to hear the chicken story.

It's great to see others joining in to post on this forum! Keep the conversation flowing & thanks for your continued support of our class site!

Mike: My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of a good friend! I was saddened to hear of Danny's passing. Thank you for letting us know. I have added his name to the "In Memory" section of our site. When you have information concerning his service please post it on this forum. Thanks

I am sad to report that Jerry Dickens lost his younger sister, Tina, earlier this week. I think she was 47 years old and was in Austin when she died. I don't know if that was where she lived. Another of our class mates that could use our prayers!

Mike... I am sorry to hear that Danny passed on. It is always difficult to loose a life long friend. My prayers are with you. I will also include his family in my prayers.

Sandi (Sandra) Hair (Bentz)

Hey everyone -- I hope there will be yearbooks to look thru at the reunion from '68, '69 and '70 as I only had one from '67 since that's when we moved to Alaska, so in my head you all still look like 9th graders (ha). Hopefully you'll all bring more pictures to share also. It's been so fun to read everyone's postings. Thanks again Cindi, for all the work you've done for this.

My condolences go out to Mike Wesley on the loss of a friend; the family of Danny Love; Jerry Dickens on the loss of his sister. It's so hard to lose those we care so much about....but you will always have the memories!
In sympathy,
Donna

Mike Wesley, I too will miss Danny Love. Danny, Kelly, Randy and I ran around a lot before HS. I remember when he got his DL and we went running around in Sisters Car....if only she knew what we did to that car.

I saw his picture in the Amarillo Globe news and should say there would of been some jealous guys in our class because of that head of hair he still had..Not much gray either..

In the 8th grade, Danny, David Leavitt, Van Bonds and myself ran an 880 relay together at many track meets.

I still remember the plop plop sound Danny's sneakers made echoing off the bus barn as he ran laps on our high tech dirt track. I remember that, but I don't ever remember seeing him angry. I remember riding around in his parents green Rambler with the front seats that would fully recline! That would have been a useful feature if only we'd have had girl friends at the time. He had a good heart and even though the only time I ever heard from him after graduation was the sympathy card he sent in 1972 from Iceland while serving in the Navy when my mother died, he was still my friend and the world is a sadder place with his passing.

Hate 2 hear about Danny. I remember those big #18s also Steve. Danny was a good kid and I'm sure a good man as well. I remember once after one of our home football games, where we beat the sh__ out of the other teams Danny was singing "Catch us if u can" all the way back to the locker-room. Maybe Danny took singing lessons later or at least keep his day job.
See ya later Danny Boy. Sorry I didn't keep in touch man.
Give em hell in heaven dude.
Randall
