Sorry for not posting anything sooner, was just a fast and fun summer that got away too fast. The reunion was such a fantastic event, it was such a pleasure to see everyone again, wish it had lasted longer so I could have had a chance to visit with everyone who attended. I have kept up with the postings to the reunion site and am glad to see so much response to it. We were so fortunate, as Kathy B. said, to have attended high school when we did. I know from personal experiences, not to be disclosed here, that when life tended to be a little tedious, shall we say, you just dig down a little and find that old Tulia dirt that made you and you persevere. Kinda like driving that tractor round and round again stirring up the dirt that Randall S talks about, been there, done that, got the T-shirt, Thank you. Took a long weekend up to Ft. Campbell to see Jake before he set sail for the wild frontiers of Afghanistan. Had fun seeing the sights of Nashville with him, of course he didn't take me where he and his buds hang out, but we still frequented a few of the night spots available. He's cool now, rotated out of his combat outpost on the border back to his forward operating base, so we get to hear from him more often.
Randall S., this is a shout out to you, passed close to Ala-freeking-bama when we cruised through Memphis, but kids ride aren't what they used to be, and 1200 miles in 2 days took it out of me, so maybe next time. Think it was just about 100 miles SE of where I was.
Cindi. Must have been a "Hell" of a promotion to get you in the Caribbean during the hurricane season, glad you are back safe and sound, well maybe not sound, but back, none the less.
Jan, must apologize to you also, cruised within 30 miles of your place on the way back from Ft. Campbell. We stopped in that little flea market town you have just SE of you. Would have loved to drink beer and roll around in your backyard. Don't do front yards anymore, did that in S. Texas, too many neighbors. Like I said to Randall, kids rides aren't what I'm used to driving these days. Jake has a '01 Dodge pickup, he put 20 inch wheels on and wide racing tires. More of a street ride, than my idea of a road trip vehicle, so we just pedaled on back to the "Alien Nation"
Deltah, the rain sounds so wonderful. We are close to 9 inches for the year and we are above average so far. I miss the wheat fields of the Panhandle. spent many years out there watching them blow in the breeze. To Hell with Randall, he knows what rain means to the panhandle and now he has more than his share. Hope you made a good crop.
Headed to California this weekend. Flying out of Albuquerque this Friday for Oakland, meeting Bonnie's sisters and visiting some of their relatives in Stockton, and visiting the wine country around Lodi (Ralph, remember, " stuck in Lodi, again"?) Well at least there is wine to be had and drunk, hope I'm not the designated driver.
Best wishes to all and to all a good night. JK
P.S. Randall S. this typing was all done with the index fingers only, don't type much any more, don't tell Ms. Payne. Oh, and by the way no comments on the "white legs" and "farmers tan" when I went out for football the first time, OK? Take care, you ol' f***. JK
