JK, so good to here from you, thanks for posting and letting us catch up with what is going on with you!  You are so right about growing up in Tulia, I am so thankful for the friends I made there, and still have, and I'm really glad I attended the reunion and got to reconnect with those that were there.  Wish there had been more time to visit with some, really enjoyed the girlfriend get together.  I count myself very blessed for the friends I have from high school.

Cindi, hope your weekend to Orlando went well, did you get to see Mickey and Minnie?  Haven't heard from you in awhile, if they are working you too hard, tell them to cut it out!  My motto is, "Don't work too hard, just make it look like you are !!!"

Also Cindi, I remember the "winner" suckers. I thought they were really good, and I do think part of the reason I bought them was the chance to get one with a winning sticker on it.  Is the Bosticks place the same as the "Hornet's Nest"?  That's the name I remember for the place that was across from the Junior High School, unless my mind is playing tricks on me again, which is always possible.

Debra McCoy Johnson, have to use your full name, so many Debra's in our class, so glad your still with us, you rock girl !!!

Debbie Nelson Ferriter, fried dough?  That doesn't sound that great, just fried dough?

Good to hear from all that have posted, everyone else, think of it as that dreaded paper we had to write when school started up again, "What I Did This Summer", and post.  JK, if I were the teacher, you would get and A++.

CONNIE GIRL..... I never wrote a paper in High School, I had girlfriends that did that for me. I just didn't the have time for that seeing that I was taking four English classes that year so I could throw my cap, yell and run out the ailed to freedom on graduation night. Hey, I paid for that later. In Collage and Graduate School I paid my dues writing enough papers to float a battle ship. That's why I ware these prescription glasses with tented lenses. After ten years of those dam dim lit basement library lights I'm nearly blind. I would rather not have written the papers and still have my vision. Oh well, as a friend of mine always says, "It's all good." About writing, I have been published in the National library of Congress. It was a pottery contest thing. I even went to D.C. to the National Poet's Society Contest, that was a joke. The poem they published sucked. It wasn't even finished. Oh well it was all a hoot. I have about 25 poems I've written but never published. Didn't think of the old farmboy as a poet did you. LOL me neither. I'm not. I now have 50 pages written in my never to be published book I call "Texas High Morning." It's contains all this shit I've been writing to ya'll. It's just for fun and maybe my grandkids will get a hoot out of reading it, or maybe not. It's better writing than watching TV all the time.

JK........Maybe you and I can hook up and together roll around in Jan's yard. She can video it and send it in to funniest videos. Do you see dollar signs? I'm about as close to Memphis as I am to Nashville. To bad you didn't have time. I understand. Maybe next time. I've got a huge house, plenty of bedrooms and a big basement. Plus if your bad there are the horse stalls you can stay in. j/k. LOL. Or Kathy can put you up in our cat house!!! How's that sound!! Your classmate has a cat house and I'm working on a back yard Harem. Hey, I got Texas dirt in a jar in my study. Sometimes we talk. Yes I'm crazy. You just now realizing that. JK just keep fingering that computer of yours! I know she likes it! LOL!

HEY DJ (Deb Coy Johnson)............... Glad you still kicking girl. Keep on surviving and giving JJ what for. JJ is a luck man to have you with him. Ask JJ if he want's to go deer hunting. I remember the Vaseline on my door handles and steering wheel. Do You? I still owe you for that one girl. I'll find a way to collect some day. So watch your back I'm coming to get you. Payback is hell!

Nelson......... Self says to tell you we don't do sugar. Were passed sugar coating things. We just take it as it is, no sugar required here. Were so sweet we don't need sugar. The world couldn't handle us if we did sugar. I sweeten my coffee when I accidently touch it with my pinkie and then it's so sweet I can't drink it. What can I say. I'm just too sweet. A sweet thing. Hey, some of us have it and some don't.

J.K.: Promotion?? Don't I wish! The only promotion I'm eligible for is the one where they give you a gold watch and send you on your way!  My career doesn't exactly provide a path to bigger and better things. Unfortunately, this is as good as it gets.  The good news is that when you are dealing with physicians there is never a dull moment so it keeps my job interesting (to say the least).

To those who emailed or called and left messages of concern because I was temporarily AWOL, thank you but your worries were unfounded.  I was in Orlando at a business conference from Sunday through late last night.  I purposely left the laptop behind!  If you received a phone call or text during my absence I assure you that I was not calling to have you post bail. Seriously!  I was either returning your call/text or simply had something to share that was of the upmost importance at the time.    Actually, Mickey and Goofy just wanted to say hello.

I had a pink martini (singular) on last night's Delta flight home to support breat awareness month and the "Save the Ta Ta's" campaign.  I toasted you Debbie McCoy Johnson and said a silent prayer for all who have experienced breast cancer or have loved ones who are fighting that formidable foe!!

Randall: You were talking about writing poems and it reminded me that there was a booklet published at THS when we were juniors or seniors that contained poems written by students.  I remember that Mrs. Simmons made us all write a poem and then she helped pick the ones for publication.  Does anyone remember?  Boy, I would love to get my hands on a copy of that publication!  I bet you have a poem (or two) in there.

Connie: Bostick's Grocery was close to the bowling alley & was on the corner of 6th Street & the Vigo highway.  If you headed east & turned at that juncture you were on Dallas if you made a right turn and on the left it was the start of the Vigo Hwy.  I think there was also an insurance business there (Hap Rogers or Harry Reeves maybe?) at one time but I can't remember for sure.  I do remember the Hornet's Nest across from the junior high. My mom always told me to stay away from there. It was where the "wild" kids went to smoke . . . I used to go there because they sold firesticks and lick-em-ade (sp?). I dipped the firestick in the powder or bought a snow cone and poured the powder over the snow cone.  Now those were the days!

Well, TGIF to all of you! Have a great weekend.

JK - Good to hear from you, sounds like you had a good summer, and are having a good start on the fall.

Randy - you know that you can publish your own book online, right?  I don't know how, but I heard that on a radio talk show, I think you should seriously consider and research that.

Cindi- Sounds like you have a very demanding job, but man, would I love to be sent to Florida on travel!  I think I could use a trip right about now.

Debra McCoy - So glad you are still with us!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  I'll be watching flag football (the oldest grandson).

CINDI.... I remember a lot of things but I don't remember Simmons and the poems. Selective memory? Maybe? Of course back then I couldn't spell and my grammar was non existence. I learned grammer in collage and thank goodness for spell check it still saves my butt, makes me look good know what I mean.

Kay..... I might have to check into that but I really don't trust the net with sensitive things like that. Had my credit card stold on line, my bank account tapped and a couple other things. Just to risky for me girl. I don't need anything else stold.

Hey I'm in a hotel down in Mississippi and couldn't get on line with their Comcast wireless. So I put my laptop in the window and I'm on line thanks to McDonald's across the street. Go figure!

CINDI/KAY........ Bostic's was beside Revees Insurance and Revees also had a petroleum or propane storage grounds there for years. My aunt worked at Revees insurance and when my dad first moved to Texas from Oklahoma he drove a truck for Reeves. They were good people. Helped dad get his start in farming.

When I came to Tulia (Jan'66), the store in with Reeves Insurance, was "Caroline's" grocery? They must have taken over after Bosticks??

Also...      everybody check out the new goofy kid pics at the bottom of the page on "Photos - School Days".  Some pics that I scanned for Delia...      of course if "my" pic were included, they wouldn't be "goofy" at all!!

Wow, I checked in on the THS Class of 1969 web page www.tulia1969.com just to see how they were doing and couldn't believe what they are doing for their 60th Birthday Bash this year.  Wow!

Celinda (Cindi) Ward (Hanna)

Connie: My brother's class (1966) also met somewhere in East Texas for a 60th birthday bash and it was well attended and they had a great time.  Our class, when surveyed, were overwhelmingly in favor of keeping it in Tulia.  I encourage everyone to check out the Class of '69 site (www.tulia1969.com) and read the details of their event.  We may want to rethink our strategy and opt for a different location to broaden the activities.  Since I'm traveling from a good distance to begin with I have no problem flying into somewhere other than the Panhandle and I suspect the other "distant" classmates would feel the same way. The majority of our classmates registered on the site reside in Texas so I'd like to hear what those folks think about having it at at a different location.  I would prefer to keep it out of a "big city" so that traffic, etc., is not an issue. I get enough of that living in CA!

Lloyd: Yes, Caroline's was where Bostick's used to be.  Thank you, Randy, for nailing down the specific insurance company that was there!

Please take a minute & post your thoughts about a location for our 2012 birthday event.  Have a great day!

Singer..... Caloline's bought the store from Bostic when they retired. It's the same place, same location and they were very nice people just like the Bostics.

Behind Caroline's was the boiling ally and behind the boiling ally was the grassy noel and by the Vigor Highway in the grassy noel was a water hole. The water hole was full sometimes, mostly after a Texas rain storm.

I don't remember who was with me but we waded off into that water hole about waste deep and jumped and splashed and had a great time in the cool muddy water on that summer day but when we walked out there was these black fat looking worms attached to us. While we were pulling them off I noticed that they were kinda attached like a tick eventhough I didn't know what a tick was back then. I told mom when I got home and she told me it was blood sucking leaches. That was my first blood donation. Maybe that's why I get sick even now when I donate blood. Hey I like my blood in my own body and maybe that memory has something even now to do with my reluctance to give it up. Last time I donated I fell out in the floor while looking at my own blood flowing out into a bottle. Just can't stand to loose part of myself, know what I mean.

Now your blood don't both me. Others blood don't but mine does. On the Ranch we cut, vaccinated and dehorn 300 and more calves a year. When you dehorn them there is lots of blood spraying and flying everywhere and that doesn't bother me but if I see mine bye, bye. Dam leaches they warped my mind alone with many other things.

HEY  HEY  HEY @#$%^&*+!

Boys and girls, men and women, I would say ladies and gentleman but that would be going too far don't you think.

My Super made a mistake and I'm home tonight. Forgot what it feels like to be home during a week day. I could get use to this shit!!! Notches are in the oven and cold beer is calling my name. I think it's bad manners to type with your mouth full but this is just too good to wait. Um, good, yew, smack, smack. All I need know is some sex on the Beach, or in the Hay, or on the Table, or atop the Roof, or under the Tractor, or in the water tank. But Kathy says that sand gets in the wrong places, straw itches, the table legs are wobbly, the shingles tare your skin, there's dirt under the tractor and tadpoles in the water. Oh well I guess It's just a on the deck in the night watching the moon and stars kinda time. OH, there goes my Marlins, and my Bat's. Eat them bugs!!! HELL YAW@#$%^&*+! Know what I mean. Now it's time for Ice Cream. You must have Ice Cream after spices hot Mexican. Know Why Don't Ya?

The leaves are changing to Orange, Red, Yellow, Brown and Green. Really beautiful. Come and see it and have a nacho.
