Dam Gleason where did u get those pics?

I recognize the football player. It's Larry Zonka who later went on to play  for the Miami Dolphins. A hell of a running back. He wasn't the fasted or biggest running back but he was tough as an old leather boot, mean as mad dog Comanche and smart as a nuclear scientist. He later lead the Dolphins  2 an undefeated NFL season and then won the Supper Bowl.

Yaw!! Hot Dam!! I remember we had Larry Zonka and the Galloping Ghost in the backfield our 7th grade season. Hell, we could have beat the Dallas Cowboys that year.

Got my feet in the water, butt in the sand, not a worry in the world a cold beer in my hand. Life is good today. Life is good.

And now the documentation. The original "Galloping Ghost" was Harold "RED" Grange and played for University of Illinois and later with the Bears. He was considered unstoppable. Coach Lantz tagged Jesse Ramos our Galloping Ghost, because he was pretty unstoppable and gave him #77, same number as the original Galloping Ghost. Of course at that age we had no idea why a running back was wearing a lineman's number. He just dragged would be tacklers all over the field.

Mom cut everything out of the paper and made me put together a scrap book. Some day you will thank me, she said.

Delia Cooper (Gray)

Hey Mike, I went to the 8th grade banquet with Dale O'Daniel. Just to give a heads up, It was Delia Cooper sitting next to Dale.  I don't know if Dale remembers that or not. We were such young babes! I have some old photos, not as good as the old newspaper, but I'll try to find my box and bring them to the reunion.  It will be fun to see some of the things we come up with, to bring to the reunion.

Randy, you can still be a minister for God and not deal with the politics that always screws up the best of the best. My brother has had a house ministry for over 25 yrs. He tried the big stuff through Churches. I wish you could talk to him! (maybe someday) He does a Love Your neighbor and several other ministries. It isn't a big group, but he does feel Blessed with the work he does. He has always had to do other things to pay the Bills, but he has kept the main goal in his life going.  I'm sure you do good neighbor and other things, just like to sound like a hard***! right?

God is Good, ??? People are crazy! Delia

Thanks for the birthday wishes I received....feeling great, and usually forget I'm 58 till I remember how old my daughter and friends kids are. LOL!

I see Odell Moffett and Denette ever so often, and have asked them several times to register on line, but I haven't had any luck.  They are both alive and kicking, just don't think they are into the computer thing.

Connie Lee (Ash)

Ralph,  It was me, Connie, that worked for brand X "Braniff Airlines", now that was one GOOD airline to work for, back in the days when working in the airline industry was a blast! Now if anyone actually wants to work in an extremely high stress, low paying, unstable industry, that would be the airline industry.  These days I work for Continental (25 yrs.) soon to be, UCK, United Airlines.  I think I'm gonna be sick, actually, I just hope I still have a job.  Our CEO has laid off 900 reservations agents in the past 18 months.  Anyway.......yea I know I am 58, just goes to show when your getting on up there you lose track of all kinds of things!

Oh. Connie.

X airlines. That sounds hot. Was it a topless airlines? Is it still? If so I might fly to the reunion on it.

Got my feet in the water, ass in the sand, not a worry in the world and a cold beer in my hand.

Randall

Connie Lee (Ash)

No Randy, hate to disappoint you, it was Braniff Airlines, but they are no more. (and they were never topless)

Randy Stephens

Dam.

Just my luck girl.

Hey maybe you and me could start one.

An x rated air line. Topless stewardess and all. We could make a large fortune girl. We could call it Crazy Necked Air Lines. We could serve nothing but necked women and booze. It could be a gold mine. Do you wan-a.

Beer is good and people are crazy

Randall

Connie Lee (Ash)

Think I'll pass, not feeling too funny right now, Continental is history and now the employee's get to wait and see what happens with their jobs. Hopefully not 25 yrs down the drain, like before, only then it was 10yrs. with Braniff.

Even if I had the body for it, and I don't, and even if I wasn't fed up with the airline industry, which I am, your proposal is too much outta line for me.

So, thanks, but no thanks.  Beer isn't always good, people can be crazy.  No offense meant.

Randy I do remember the dances and the moms teaching us the pony.  I don't think I ever missed a dance.  I also remember people talking about the aspirin in coke.  Boy were ya'll gullible.  I don't think any of you guys ever got drunk from it. just indigestion.  I do not remembering any measuring but in the seventh grade Mark made a bet that some of us girls could make a shadow.  Of course we did not know why he wanted us to turn sideways at our lunch break.

Connie, Good luck with your job!!  I joined your cause on facebook.

05/03/10 07:41 PM #304

Randy Stephens

Connie.

Sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I was just kidding.

I didn't realize the industry was messing with your job. Forgive me for being insensitive.

 Randall

05/03/10 07:54 PM #305

Randy Stephens

Bev.

Yea. We were gullible all right about a lot of things. If you girls only knew back when you could have really taken advantage of us guys even more than you did.

I don't remember indigestion but I remember I didn't drink much coke after that night and I didn't have head ace for a year.

Give em hell Bev.

Randall

Jan Minchew (Sparks)

Randy...everyone knows that Girls are smarter, more mature (especially in Jr.High & HS). We knew exactly what was going on...we just knew when to to be coy and when to be cunning. And, Randy...behave yourself!

05/04/10 06:49 PM #307

Randy Stephens

Jan.

You go girl. Where you been hiding? Nice to hear from you again.

Yow, YOW, right, like you know I believe that. Hey I was real smart back when, just didn't know what was going on most of the time. My best move was just to roll with the punches. You know, go with the flow.

I spent most of my time back when trying to figure just what the hell was really going on, how it related to me and what the hell to do with that new enlightenment. You know how to process it. That's why most of the time I just drooled.

Behave, behave!! Jan you know that's no fun. Come on girl. I'm to old to behave anyway. Life's to short to behave. Just think if I would taken others advice and behaved back then, then I would't have all these stories to tell you because they would have never happened.

fRain makes the corn, corn makes the whiskey, whiskey makes my baby feel a little bit freskey.

Jan go get some gin and sin.

Randy Stephens

Hey.

Does anyone have an update on Pope.

05/06/10 01:01 PM #309

Larry Wells

Hey Randy S....Pope is home now has lost alot of muscle mass and of course pounds.

He is doing various rehab procedures.  It will take him a considerable amount of time to

rebuild but he is a strong hearted man. Hardest part I would imagine is no whiskey or snuff

allowed.

05/06/10 05:22 PM #310

Randy Stephens

Hey Larry.

Thanks for the update. Rehab is always rough BUT NO snuff or whiskey. Man, that's really bad. If you talk to Pope tell him I'll dip and drink whiskey for him this weekend.

Just tell him to close his eyes and he'll be there.
