Randy, you just keep those images of that "frail angelic blue eyed blonde" and if you can't find her at the reunion...check the name tags!!!  Thank you Cindi for making sure we have them...

Donna, your new bride is beautiful. Just like her mother.

Can't wait to see you guys...

Prayers go out to Danny Glasscocks wife, in the hospital here in Tulia, not serious just breathing problems!!!  Ran into country boy Danny Gardner last night and told him to register that he was going be at the reunion.  I can remember when we drove a yellow dawg our senior year and one morning he told me that I needed to come out to Vigo Park and hunt some nauga's (sp) I said what is a nauga and he said that is what u make naugahyde out of!!LOL    He is still as country as they come!!  Hey Randy would they let senior's drive school buses in this day and time???   Not!!!   I had the longest route Love road to Roger's Ranch, and not a black or spanish on my route!! OK a joke for Randy S.

A bear walked in to a bar in Butte Montana and said give a beer, and the bartender said we don't serve bear's from Butte beer, So the bear said well give me a rum and coke and the bartender said we don't serve bear's from Butte alcohol, So there was a good looking lush at the end of the bar and the bear said I'll just go eat her up.  The bear came back to the bartender and said give me something to wash that woman down.  The bartender said we don't serve Drug addicts the bartender said that wasn't a woman u ate that was a bar-bitch-u-ate!!!!     Get it!!!!

OK are we going to get Marsha Sharp to speak she has her own freeway in Lubbock!!!!!!!   Gone for now   Ralph Berriman

Deltah, I know I'll recognize you. You'll probably be glowing like all my other passed puppy loves. Just kidding. Looking forward to seeing you.

Ralphie, I think you are getting close to being a stand up comic dude. Seriously you should think about taking it on the road. All you need is a cigar and a glass of whiskey.  Just kidding. Not.

Deltah: I suspect if Randy is looking for you with blue eyes he just might not find you. I seem to recall you had big brown eyes. Maybe not but I don't picture you with baby blues!

Ralph: You get no points for originality in the joke department so don't quit your day job. Ha

Donna: The wedding photos are awesome!

Randy: Your memory for detail is remarkable and you have quite a flair for self expression. Keep the stories coming. I, for one, find them highly entertaining. I remember grad night very well. No one wears grass stains on a white grad gown quite like you! You gave em hell that night for sure and I doubt the educators in the crowd could forget the Class of 1970!

Spread the word about the reunion to our classmates who may be computer challenged! We are up to almost 50 who have registered so far. When I return from vacation I plan to contact some folks by phone but welcome your help in this process. For now aloha and mahalo!

Just now back to reading some of the message posts!   Since the wedding; I've been sleeping like crazy........I just didn't know I was that tired!   But it all went very well and if there was a gliltch anywhere......no one told me!   Thanks to Deltah and Cindi for the kind comments about the pics!   We did have fun!

I am glad to hear that Randy P. is on the mend.   It makes me sad to read about those of us experiencing health problems.  But, I guess we are getting to the age when that will start happening.  As I've said before; aging sure isn't for sissies!  I'll keep those of you who are not at the "top of your game" in prayer.

Sounds like everyone is getting excited about the reunion.  I suspect stories will be told day & night!  Fun times ahead!

Deltah;  I agree with you about the name tags......I remember seeing Ralph at a funeral a couple of years ago & us not recognizing each other.....it was quite funny actually!  So those name tags will sure come in handy!

Gonna finally get caught up on some things around home that I have been letting slide.....my yard is calling me.................

Life is good!

Cindi. Your just to nice and flattering, but if I can remember I'll continue to write.

When it's puppy love they are always baby blues regardless.

Yes, I remember some parts of that night of grass stains. Did you know they talked about taking away my diploma for that night of ruckus. I remember getting through that night with a lot of help from a lot of friends. Thanks to all who helped. I may be calling on you again at any time.

God is good, beer is great and people are crazy.

Celinda (Cindi) Ward (Hanna)

Randy: I'm proud to say I was among those friends who helped prop you up grad night. I am not surprised of the post grad reaction regarding your diploma.  The "establishment" during that era was pretty uptight as I recall.  I guess Mr. Pollard knew he no longer had jurisdiction over your backside so holding your diploma hostage was a final act of torment.  I seem to remember that Rita Stark let out a whoop coming back up the aisle during our exit that surprised the heck out of everyone.  After that there was plenty of hooting and hollering all around.  The after party was on a dirt road outside of town and involved a keg (of course).  I also remember that some of our parents were supposed to fix breakfast for us at the VFW (or Legion Hall) the next morning but no one showed up to eat . . .not exactly a surprise given the circumstances.

Randy/Bev: I do remember the dances and the aspirin and coke myth.  However, I don't think I was included in the invitation to be "measured" at a dance.  I'm sure it was for the obvious reasons . . .nothing significant to measure at that time.  Beverley referenced the shadow casting episode - another one I missed.  My nose would have cast a bigger shadow than my chest for sure!  I remember house parties and playing "knocking for love" which I think was later changed to "seven minutes in heaven".  I also remember playing "ring the doorbell" and a prank Beverley and I pulled on a teacher that involved a phone call to tell her she had won free groceries at Bill's Market . . . such little devils we were.  That same teacher received a visit from some out-of-town boys who Beverley and I got in the car with and drove around town for awhile. We told them we were sisters and gave ourselves fake names and had them cruise by the teacher's house.  We pointed it out as our home.  I think the teacher figured it out based on the description the boys gave of the "sisters" they met.  If we had been closer in height it may have been harder but we were sort of like Mutt & Jeff since I was about 5 inches taller than Bev at the time.  It was all in fun and we never really did anything too scandalous regardless of what you might have heard (ha).

Connie: I hope it goes well for you with the United/Continental change. I just flew United and was not impressed. It had been awhile since I had been on that airline and now I remember why I tried to avoid it. I sympathize with you and certainly understand your sentiments about your profession.  I work in healthcare and with government intrusion it will certainly change the landscape in years to come. I'm just happy to be on the ending phase of my career instead of the beginning! I guess getting old has some advantages after all.

Bev: Do you remember putting vodka and red pepper in our hair to make it grow? Someone told us that was what Lougay Malone used and her hair was down to her waste.  Like you said, we were sooooo gullible.  I remember that stuff lit up my scalp like a firecracker!!  Can you say "stupid"?  I dont think there was any significant growth from the episode. We are probably lucky we didn't lose ALL our hair!

05/12/10 04:50 PM #318

Beverley Clark (Mauldin)

Cindi, I do remember putting vodka and red pepper on my hair.  I remember having to shampoo several times to get the burning to stop.  I also remember ironing my hair.  We were a few years ahead of the flat iron.

I think we were lucky that a certain teacher did not make life really miserable for us.  I ended up dating one of those boys for a few months.  One night some of the boys in our class decided to run him out of town (I think Lloyd and JK were in the group) and we went to get my dad for help-cause he was so big and tough.  One of my funniest memories was when we had to spend the night in the park.  Who was it that threw the keys to your mothers car out in the park?  Was it Joe Bob and his group?  Poor Jack was never the wiser-thank goodness .  Do you remember the night we slept on my front porch and took off running around town.  Becky Tucker was with us and her brother, who was a cop in Tulia at the time, saw us and chased us down.  He took us home in his cop car.  I don't think my mom ever knew and Becky never stayed the night with me again.

05/12/10 07:35 PM #319

Celinda (Cindi) Ward (Hanna)

Bev: Oh the memories! I not really sure who took the keys out of the car and threw them in the park while we were out and about elsewhere. It's hard to believe we actually used to leave keys in the ignition back then but we had no concept of car theft in those days.  I think we initially blamed Lloyd & Ralph and then suspected Joe Don Morris & Jack Bailey.  For some reason I'm thinking it may have been Dwayne and Jimmy Moore.  We spent quite awhile looking for those darn keys before falling asleep in the car. I remember waking up and taking one last stroll through the park and finding them.  I also remember our panic while flying home and then slipping into the house just minutes before Jack was up at dawn.  We were camping out in the living room and flew under the covers fully clothed just in the nick of time! My parents were out of town and he was supposed to be "babysitting" us. What a joke, huh?  I also remember when my mom was out of town periodically and my dad would go to bed really early and sleep so soundly. You could run a train through his bedroom and he wouldn't ever know it. We used to wait for him to fall asleep (took about 5 minutes usually) and then push the car out of the garage and let it roll down the street before starting it up and taking off.  We never got caught even once.  The one time my dad did come after us we were actually innocent.  I remember Mark Miller pulling us over to tell me my dad was dragging dip street. Things went downhill from there that night.  I guess it was a little bit of poetic justice for all those times we weren't so innocent. Ha

I also remember more than one trip downtown in the wee hours during a slumber party.  I wasn't supposed to be at your party that night. I had been gone for a week and my mom wanted me to stay home.  You guys came to my window and I snuck out of the house. Your mom came out to the porch and was surprised to see me there. . . I don't remember how I got home but I do remember going to my room to close my window only to find it was already closed.  I felt a sudden presence and slowly turned around to find my mother standing there . . . oops, busted! I'm not sure if it was the same party but I know that some of us were sitting on the corner in front of Maxwell's Drug Store (I think that was the name - it was the one owned by the Emmett's) reading a newspaper that had just been delivered (which tells you the approximate time).  I know Susie and Donna were with me and we ended up being chased by a cop and holed up in some bushes by the Presbyterian or Methodist Church.  Donna got away . . . Susie and and I weren't as fast and I think someone else was with us but I don't remember who.  It may have been you since the two of us usually occupied the same space.  I kept whining about the one that got away (sorry, Donna, I was trying to create a diversion & failed miserably). That may have been that same party at your house because I'm thinking it was Becky's brother who caught us.  I wonder if Susie, Donna, or anyone else remembers the incident.

This is a great video I thought I would share!  Take a few minutes to watch.  If you've ever tried to catch all the lyrics to Billy Joel's song, "We Didn't Start The Fire" , this video will provide those lyrics with a photo explanation.  Enjoy!

Let's hear more. Some gruesome details please.

Reunion Update: Instead of sending a blast email, I decided to give updates on this forum. Based on the stats, it is viewed daily by many class members and is a good source to post info.

35 reunion attendees took the "reunion activities" survey.  A huge thanks goes out to all of you who participated.  There were some good suggestions and interesting remarks submitted.  29 of the 35 respondents indicated they would be interested in riding a parade float.  That's your cue, Kathy & Buttons, to make it happen! We all appreciate you for offering to provide the transportation and hay bales.  We will have a printed class banner that can fit across the truck cab grill and can be easily read upon approach.  Those interested in riding the float should  meet in the high school parking lot on Dallas Street on Saturday morning. I will post a specific time later on this forum.  Don't forget to bring a blanket or something to place over the hay bales for your seating comfort.  Do you want me to bring the name tags to that Saturday morning event? That will be the first time many of us have seen each other since graduation so it might be a good idea. Let me know what you think!  Also, are we going to have kids and/or grandkids ride on the float, too, or should we restrict it to classmates only?  I will have to defer to Kathy & Buttons on the number of people the rig will hold but at last count there were 29 riders.

There were also many who indicated they would attend a "classmate only" breakfast that same morning.  I will work with some of the local residents to coordinate this if we determine it's something we want to pursue. One option is to simply bring donuts & juice to the HS parking lot before the parade and show up a little earlier.  Any other ideas are welcome!  We can also plan to congregate at the Park during the old timers' reunion and barbeque after the parade.  A lot of classes do this and it's a good place to see people who weren't in our class but attended THS.

Lloyd has reconfirmed the seating capacity with the Conestoga Restaurant and based on our current attendance they will be able to accomodate us quite comfortably.  We will have the place to ourselves after dinner until 11 p.m. to play our music, dance, gab and reconnect!  The good news is that our after party duties will be minimal so you won't have to volunteer to be on the clean-up crew.

It did not appear there were not too many people interested in a morning AFTER breakfast on Sunday so I guess those who do want together can do so informally.  The number could dwindle even further after the Saturday night prolonged exposure to each other (ha).

Unfortunately, Randy S., we will not be able to grant your request on the survey for a dancing pole.  I am not sure they come in a "geriatric" variety/size.  Also, we cannot accept legal liability for injuries caused by any of the ladies who aspire to reconstruct Demi Moore's character from Striptease after consuming adult beverages.  Taking a 58 year old female, adding alcohol and then pointing her to a dancing pole may not bring about the desired result (although it could be great comic relief).  I'm simply speaking based on what could happen if I was the inebriated dancer, so please don't be insulted at my insinuation that any of you ladies may not be capable of this feat.  Unless that pole comes equipped with a seatbelt and toe holes for climbing I'm pretty sure I'd be toast on the first attempt to spin.  I'm not sure the upper body strength (or lack thereof) could support the lower body weight at this time so that spinning thing is a definite "no" for me.  Also, Randy S., don't bring that tape measure, either. That proposition is a two-way street so if you don't want to BE measured don't expect to whip out the tape and attempt to wrap it around the females (ha).  Those who wish to participate in these types of activities are certainly free to do so in the restaurant parking lot.  Just so you know, that lot happens to be adjacent to the Tulia Police Department so such activities should be approached with extreme caution and discretion.  I suggest we set up a "bail money" donation jar in case some brave soul dares to teeter on the edge of danger and falls on the wrong side of the law, requiring financial assistance.  It's just a thought!

Please jump in and post your comments and/or ideas.  We are approximately 59 days away from the reunion date.  I am really looking forward to seeing all you there! Please keep working on our "missing" classmates who aren't really missing. Let them know they don't have to be computer savvy or register on this site to attend the reunion.  If you know of anyone who plans to attend who is not registered on this site, please let me know so I can make sure they have a name badge!

That's it for the reunion update for now! Check in periodically as new information may be posted.  Take care & I will see you in July.  Cindi

Oh, Cindi...I just LOVE you! Your comments about the measuring tape are priceless. I just wish you had come up with that idea 40 years ago. I remember that Dance at the American Legion Hall. Some young buck yanked a "dicky" out of my dress and exposed what had previously been covered. Nice. The fact that I remember it says a lot about how embarrasing it was! Thank you for all your work!

Short factual story.......Awhile ago, in a land not to far away....A Man had moved from his home in Texas to a new and strange place. Now the folks were not the same in this new place.... the women were oddly forward ( albeit sexy ) and the Man did not fit in immediately.  The Man spoke often with his old friends back home, but it was'nt the same....everything was different.

So one old friend thought of a way to bring some "home" flavor to the Man.  For you see the Man used to get a little tipsy and then have great fun trying to rope the chickens on the home ranch.  Well actually the Man got frigging drunk and chased hell out of the chickens hardly ever roping one....oops I digress.... So the old friend took a Texas Chicken ( known for their rambunctious nature and loose bowels) to the new workplace of the Man.

The old friend walked into the pretty Bank in downtown Santa Fe with a chicken under his arm!!!

The Man had hardly figured out what was about to happen and had no time to twhart the plan... The Texas Chicken was loosed and the Rodeo commenced!!!   The story is still a favorite in Santa Fe ...about the day the Texas Chick made several "deposits" at the pretty Bank in Santa Fe.....The poor Man got precious little roping practice that day, however he did get some Janitorial experience to add to his Resume"

Needless to say... the old friend was told that it would probably be best if "NEVER SET FOOT in the pretty Bank again"..They would'nt open an account for the Chicken either!!!

Hey Pope....you remember the night ole Leroys Quonset Barn caught fire? You and me were full of Tequila and tied on to that overhead fuel tank and drug it away from the Barn.....If that damn thing had blown up we would have landed in Kansas....then being full of Tequila ,we would have lit up and shot into the night sky like Bottle Rockets!!!  How'd we live this long you ole coot???

We are kinda like old Pecos Bill...Huh!

Hey Cindi:  I will bring the shade for the park and will enlist someone to help me put it up.  I can hardly wait to see everybody.  As for the missing classmate list, all of them live in Tulia.  I saw David George last week going down the street in an electric wheelchair.  Maybe we need to put an ad in the paper that says we are having a reunion, that we have this website etc.  I saw Freda Clark in United in PLainview and told her to get online and sign up and what was going on.      It is not long now.

Celinda (Cindi) Ward (Hanna)

Hi Cornelia: Thanks so much for use of the tent! I'm glad to help put it up and I'm sure we can find some additional "muscle" to assist.  Just FYI, there's been a blurb running in the Tulia paper for a few months now announcing the reunion.  I think it's in that section "out and about" (or whatever it's called).  Anyway, I subscribe to the paper and it's been there so, hopefully, others will see it.  Like I said, they don't have to register on the site to attend but it does make it easier to determine who will need an ID badge!  Thanks for spreading the word.

Deb: I'm not giving up hope that you can attend the reunion.  If it doesn't work out for you I promise to post lots of pictures.  We will miss you if you don't make it!

We look forward to seeing everyone this summer.  The trailer will be all ready to take us down "dip street."  I think if you have small grandchildren who could sit in your lap, then they could be included in the parade activity.  I just don't think there will be room on the trailer for families.  I guess we could wait until Saturday morning and see who shows up to ride in the parade.  Who knows?  We may have lots of room!  Not really.  I hope all classmates will make an effort to be there.  It is lots of fun, and we will have some good visiting time as we journey down the street.
